Description

The Ichi Ki Kei Jiro is the hardiest of all Asian persimmons. Nicknamed “Itchy,” this bountiful bearer features seedless, pucker-free fruit that is never sour — it’s sweet even when picked firm like an apple! It starts producing medium to large orange fruit in 2-3 years. At maturity, the Ichi Ki Kei Jiro reaches a height and width of 8-10 feet and is considered a dwarf. This non-astringent persimmon ripens in September or October and is self-pollinating. We graft the Ichi Ki Kei Jiro persimmon onto native American persimmon root stock.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Plant persimmon trees in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly after planting, until tree is established. Persimmon trees need about 40 inches of water every year. Persimmons only need pruning if limbs are crossing or in order to control the tree's size.

Ichi Ki Kei Jiro

Excellent tree that was bigger than I expected. Wonderful condition, it’s in the ground and looks great. Will buy from Plant Me Green again.

In the ground.

Our persimmon tree arrived in great shape. We have planted it and the leaves have fallen. It is well mulched now we wait for spring. The tree was larger than I expected which was a plus, and it had a really good root system.

Well received

Planted fall 2021, strong stem and pruning form of 3 arms (peace sign, baby) and still holding on to its leaves so this bodes well for its establishing roots. Shipped quickly and safely packaged. 10/10!

Big healthy tree

The first tree we received was nice and tall. Unfortunately it died a week after that, probably due to transplant shock. They sent a replacement immediately. The second plan is even bigger and nicer. It is doing well so far. Can't wait for it to get bigger. First class customer service!
