The Ichi Ki Kei Jiro is the hardiest of all Asian persimmons. Nicknamed “Itchy,” this bountiful bearer features seedless, pucker-free fruit that is never sour — it’s sweet even when picked firm like an apple! It starts producing medium to large orange fruit in 2-3 years. At maturity, the Ichi Ki Kei Jiro reaches a height and width of 8-10 feet and is considered a dwarf. This non-astringent persimmon ripens in September or October and is self-pollinating. We graft the Ichi Ki Kei Jiro persimmon onto native American persimmon root stock. USDA ZONES: Zone 6, Zone 7, Zone 8, Zone 9.

First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need. Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system. Once the tree is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material. Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets. When finished, water thoroughly. To insure your plants a successful growth rate and productive life, plant your seedlings per the instructions included in your PlantMeGreen package.
Plant persimmon trees in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly after planting, until tree is established. Persimmon trees need about 40 inches of water every year. Persimmons only need pruning if limbs are crossing or in order to control the tree's size.

Excellent Christmas Gift

I was so pleased with my fall 2017 purchase and its very successful first year that I thought it would be a good gift for more northernly friends. They were delighted and hopeful to have the same success that I encountered. Am sure they will.

Ichi Ki Kei Jiro

This was the latest I have ever planted plants in the Fall. The plants arrived in excellent shipping container and were very healthy. I took great care in planting them and applying mulch. Now I have to wait until Spring for them to awake from dormancy and begin to grow. Looking forward to eating sweet and healthy persimmons in a few years! Thanks!
