The Truffle Pecan is a dual-purpose pecan tree that has been inoculated with truffles. These Truffle Pecan trees will provide higher chances of truffle growth in a pecan grove. Both French Black and Italian White Truffles are highly sought after for their culinary value. These truffles are almost exclusively grown in Europe. The truffle spores that are inoculated within our seedlings are T. lyonii, a truffle that can be grown in the U.S. T. lyonii is considered to be a white truffle, but is very different from the truffles found in Europe. It is a unique fungus with a texture and flavor of its own. It should be noted, however, that truffles can be mistaken for other Fungi, so it is essential that harvesters carefully study truffles before consuming them. Truffle Pecans are perfect for any homeowner interested in trying the earthy flavor of the truffle, while still receiving the delicious nuts of the Pecan tree. The tree grows to a mature height of 75 to 100 feet. To learn more about these dual-purpose trees, visit the University of Georgia Fact Sheet

First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need. Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system. Once the tree is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material. Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets. When finished, water thoroughly. To insure your plants a successful growth rate and productive life, plant your seedlings per the instructions included in your PlantMeGreen package.
Pecan trees need water and sun in order to thrive. Be sure to plant in deep, moist, and well-drained soil. During the tree's first growing season, be sure to water regularly, about a gallon of water a day, (though you do not need to water every day in order to accomplish this). Prune pecan trees in the winter, making sure to prune lower hanging branches to encourage upward and lateral growth.

Second year I’ve gotten truffle trees.

The truffle pecan tree looks pretty good and healthy. The one I got last year looked a little bit bigger and thicker. The one I got last year is doing great and is as healthy as the rest of the pecan trees I got if not more. We will see how this one does I’m sure it’ll be fine. Can’t wait till the truffles start to pop up!! Is there a way to order the truffle spores through you guys? Let me know. ZB

Hello John, We are so sorry to hear your tree has failed to thrive! We do have a 1 year replacement policy for our potted trees. Our customer service team will be sending you the instructions to start the procedure to receive your replacement plant. Other possible scenarios for your tree could be dormancy (this time of year the leaves start falling off) or transplant shock. Thank you, Plant Me Green Customer Service

Beautiful trees

Beautiful trees. Nice and healthy looking. I will be in heaven if I can dig up a truffle in a few years.
