The Rising Sun Redbud is the most brilliantly colored selection of the Eastern Redbud. Before the tree leafs out in spring, abundant pea-like flowers of lavender-rose open all along the trunk and branches which remain for several weeks. The spring foliage of heart-shaped leaves are a deep apricot-orange, maturing to yellow and then speckled lime-green in summer. Only to return to its rich gold tones for autumn. At maturity this deciduous tree can reach a height of 8-12 feet and a width of 6-8 feet. It makes a great specimen plant for a small landscape. USDA ZONES: Zone 5, Zone 6, Zone 7, Zone 8, Zone 9.

First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need. Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system. Once the tree is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material. Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets. When finished, water thoroughly. To insure your plants a successful growth rate and productive life, plant your seedlings per the instructions included in your PlantMeGreen package.
Plant your redbud in full sun or partial shade, but do not plant in low-lying areas where too much water can accumulate. Mulch around tree, taking care to keep room between the mulch and the tree trunk. Prune redbuds in winter or early spring to create your desired shape.

Beautiful rising sun redbud tree.

Tree was well branched and shaped with plenty of leaves. Would buy again, however, the tree was damaged enroute. The carrier made too many stops between Florida and SC and the frequent handling crushed the box and several branches were broken. Hopefully they will regrow.
