Calathea veitchianaCommon Name: Rose Painted Calathea, Medallion Calathea
USDA Hardiness Zones: 10-12 (Outdoors).
Description
Calathea plants are grown primarily for their beautiful, brightly colored, upright, oval leaves. The various Calathea varieties have leaves with purple undersides and various vibrant colorful patterns on the top side. A member of the Marantaceae or Prayer Plant family, Calathea 'Medallion' will move its leaves with the light, and folds them up at night. This plant is is arguably one of the most beautiful low-light plants. They are pretty popular to plant enthusiasts because of their large, "medallion"-like leaves: Calatheas are tropical plants and they love an environment with higher humidity, low-light, and moderate soil moisture.
This plant is pet and children safe.
