Description

The Truffle Pecan is a native (non-grafted) pecan tree that has been inoculated with a white truffle spore making it a dual purpose tree. These Truffle Pecan trees will provide higher chances of truffle growth if planted in a pecan grove. The truffle spores that are inoculated within our seedlings are T. lyonii, a truffle that can be grown in the U.S.

T. lyonii is considered to be a white truffle, but is very different from the truffles found in Europe. It is a unique fungus with a texture and flavor of its own. It should be noted, however, that truffles can be mistaken for other Fungi, so it is essential that harvesters carefully study truffles before consuming them. Truffle Pecans are perfect for any homeowner interested in trying the earthy flavor of the truffle, while still receiving the delicious nuts of the Pecan tree. The tree grows to a mature height of 75 to 100 feet. To learn more about these dual-purpose trees, visit the University of Florida Fact Sheet.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Pecan trees need water and sun in order to thrive. Be sure to plant in deep, moist, and well-drained soil. During the tree's first growing season, be sure to water regularly, about a gallon of water a day, (though you do not need to water every day in order to accomplish this). Prune pecan trees in the winter, making sure to prune lower hanging branches to encourage upward and lateral growth.

Pecans and truffles

I would have given 5 stars but one of my trees came with broken branches. The trunk is still alive so I'm hoping it will come back .

Pecan Trees - Truffle

One tree seems to be having troubles, but the other is fine. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable regarding my pecan experiment in hardiness zone 7b.

I'm sure trees are nice when delivered on time...

I was extremely excited about receiving my truffle pecan trees. The first order arrived with one tree broken and the other tree significantly withered and dry. Plant Me Green was quick and easy to respond to my damaged tree claim. They promptly sent a new tree. This tree was delivered two days after the expected delivery date. Which means it must have been sitting in a hot truck or warehouse in the box. This tree is larger and should have been beautiful but also arrived significantly withered. I am optimistic that it will survive but it's going to loose most of its leaves, only to have the very top still green. I have experienced issues when using FedEx before. Possibly Plant Me Green should try using another shipping method to cover these losses.

Great condition!

I bought 2 of these Pecan Truffle trees to plant in my food forest. Did an unboxing of them for my youtube channel. The trees are in great shape, about 3 feet tall with green wood (not dead!). Can't wait to plant them and watch them grow, and start harvesting pecans and truffles in the next few years.

Great Delivery

Shipping and delivery went very well. It was a gift for my daughter. She said the tree was in pretty good shape on it's arrival. It is now in the ground waiting for spring.
