The Fuyugaki, or Fuyu, Persimmon is a small deciduous tree that produces medium-large, tomato shaped fruit that tends to have distinct indentations that run up and down the persimmon making it appear almost square. This non-astringent persimmon is deep orange with a light orange flesh, and it ripens in late October or early November. The fruit is sweet and mild and can be eaten fresh or used in jellies and pies. It also keeps well so you can save some for later! Besides the fruit, the Fuyugaki is a good choice because it is pest and disease resistant. The tree grows to 15-20 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide. It requires full sun to partial shade and well drained soil. It is semi-self pollinating. We graft the Fuyugaki persimmon onto native American persimmon root stock. USDA ZONES: Zone 8, Zone 9.

Most Plant Me Green trees can be shipped and planted any time of year, unless the variety is specified as only seasonal delivery (such as bare root trees). Our shipping schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. This is to ensure our trees do not stay in a box longer than necessary and arrive to you as healthy as possible. If a package needs to arrive prior to a specific date, or at a more convenient time for you, please notate that upon placement of your order. On some occasions, severe weather and other unusual issues can delay shipping and delivery of your Plant Me Green package. Holiday shipping schedules are set by the carriers.
First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need. Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system. Once the tree is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material. Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets. When finished, water thoroughly. To insure your plants a successful growth rate and productive life, plant your seedlings per the instructions included in your PlantMeGreen package.
Plant persimmon trees in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil. Water regularly after planting, until tree is established. Persimmon trees need about 40 inches of water every year. Persimmons only need pruning if limbs are crossing or in order to control the tree's size.

2 persimmon trees in 5 gallons containers for around 100 bucks shipped to my doorstep for free. That’s an awesome deal. A 5 gallon persimmon tree at a local nursery is $60-$70 and I still have to drive it home.

It was in a better shape than I expected . I am very pleased with what I received.

I was disappointed with the plant, it was small and it doesn’t have any leaf on the tree like the picture showing.

Hello Doan, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Please let us know if the tree is smaller than advertised (18-24 inches). We will be happy to send you a tree if it was smaller than stated. As for the leaves, by December the leaves are dropping due to the tree going dormant. We sincerely apologize there was not a seasonal image attached to the website listing. We are constantly working to get more images of our plants as the plants change with every season. Please contact our customer service if we shipped you a tree smaller than what you paid for.
