Description

The Coffee Plant (Coffea arabica) is an upright tropical evergreen plant that will flower in the spring with small white flowers and then bear half-inch berries that gradually darken from green to blackish pods. Each of these fruits contains two seeds, which eventually become the coffee beans you can use to brew coffee. In their native habitat, coffee plants grow into medium-sized trees. But growers regularly prune the plants to be a more manageable size, especially when the plants are grown indoors. The best time to start a coffee plant is in the early spring. (Note that you can’t grow coffee plants from the beans you buy in a store; those have been treated and roasted and will not sprout.) Even though coffee plants are vigorous growers, it will typically take a few years before your plant produces flowers and subsequent fruits.

Please note: Toxic to humans, cats and dogs if ingested.

Care Guide

As a house plant, the Coffea Arabica requires minimum maintenance and can be put outside when the weather warms up. This plant prefers a high humidity setting. These plants are water lovers and require both regular and ample watering. Regular pruning is required to control their height and will encourage bushy growth. Repot your coffee plant every (other) spring, gradually stepping up the pot size.

We will replace any houseplant that fails to thrive within 30 days of placing your order. Replacement plant shipping cost is at the customer’s expense. Proof of failure may be requested in the form of a picture sent to our customer service team. Houseplants are not included in the 1 year tree guarantee.
